An afternoon of education, conversation, and collaboration brought members of the ASID community together to discuss the business practices that support successful interior design projects.
Last month, Lighting Connection was honored to welcome members of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) to our Hill Country showroom for an engaging continuing education event featuring Terri Taylor of Interior Design Business Academy (IDBA).

Terri's presentation, Beautiful Work, Clear Boundaries: Mastering Client Management Through Contracts, sparked meaningful conversations around one of the most important aspects of running a successful design business: creating clear expectations while protecting both the client experience and the designer's expertise.

Topics ranged from letters of agreement and project boundaries to handling difficult situations, communicating professional value, managing re-entry into projects, and even the increasingly relevant concept of the "ghosting clause." Throughout the presentation, attendees shared experiences, asked thoughtful questions, and explored practical strategies for building stronger, healthier client relationships.

Events like these highlight the importance of continuing education and professional community within the design industry. They create opportunities to learn from one another, exchange ideas, and strengthen the relationships that support successful projects across our region.

Katie Clark and Tracey Fisher share Lighting Connection's commitment to supporting the design community through education, collaboration, and partnership.
We also enjoyed the opportunity to share how Lighting Connection partners with designers throughout every stage of a project. We often say that lighting is a plan, not a purchase. Behind every fixture is a network of decisions involving design intent, specification, coordination, logistics, installation, and ongoing support. Our goal is to help simplify that process so designers can focus on creating exceptional spaces for their clients.
Thank you to ASID, Terri Taylor, and everyone who attended. We are grateful for the opportunity to support the design community and look forward to hosting future events that continue to educate, inspire, and connect the talented professionals shaping homes throughout Austin, the Hill Country, and beyond.
Supporting designers, builders, and homeowners is at the heart of what we do. From the earliest concepts to final installation, we're proud to serve as a resource, a partner, and a team designed to support every project.
